AUGUST 6, 2017 – EAST BROOKFIELD, MA – Five contestants were on hand for this year’s running of the Central Mass Championships. The location was the “Podunk Airfield” in East Brookfield, Massachusetts. The weather was perfect, low seventies, no humidity and a light breeze.

Round one saw four pilots virtually tied all posting scores in the low 600 point range. In round two Matt Stas and Joe Fustolo mid-aired hurting both their cumulative scores while Brian Stas earned the contest lead with a win over Neil Simpson. In round three Neil and Joe hooked up in a wire to wire war with Neil just getting past Joe two cuts to one. In the same round Brian held onto the contest lead with a airtime win over Matt. In round four Neil and Matt had a very exciting match with Matt earning a two cuts to one win over Neil. In the final match Brian and Chris Sarnowski faced off. A mid-air early resulted in a low score for both pilots which allowed Neil to sneak past Brian for the contest win.

Later, everyone ate, drank and enjoyed each other’s company at the post contest cookout at Neil and Beth’s house (same location as the airfield) . The food was prepared and the festivities were hosted by the lovely Beth Brennan. No one went home hungry.
