Central Mass Championships

NEIL SIMPSON, BRIAN STAS & CHRIS SARNOWSKI ARE TOP THREE
BILL BISHOP IS FIRST IN SPORTSMAN

AUGUST 5, 2018 – EAST BROOKFIELD, MA – Six contestants were on hand for this year’s running of the Central Mass Championships. The location was the “Podunk Airfield” in East Brookfield, Massachusetts. The weather was hot and humid with no breeze.

Round one saw Matt Stas take the early lead with a two cut win, however, Neil Simpson and Brian Stas were just off the pace set by Matt.In round two Matt and Neil faced off. Neil got two cuts relatively early in the match, a short time later the ground came up on Matt costing him valuable airtime and a chance to retaliate. Round two also saw Brian and Chris Sarnowski post airtime wins to stay in contention. In round three Neil and Brian battled to one-cut apiece draw in a well flown match that had plenty of action. In the same round Matt and Chris had a low scoring draw that did not help either pilot’s cumulative score. Round three also saw Bill Bishop get past Cody Bishop on airtime in a match that ultimately determined the sportsman winner. In the final round Matt settled for an airtime win over Cody while Chris was using a two cuts to one win over Brian to advance his position. In the final match Neil got a two cut win over Bill to secure the contest win. Second place went to Brian followed closely by Chris.

Later, everyone ate, drank and enjoyed each other’s company at the post contest cookout at Neil and Beth’s house (same location as the airfield) . The food was prepared and the festivities were hosted by the lovely Beth Brennan. No one went home hungry.
