Central Mass Championships

BRIAN STAS & PAUL KUBEK FINISH ONE-TWO
NEIL SIMPSON AND CHRIS SARNOWSKI TIE FOR THIRD
CODY BISHOP GETS FIRST SPORTSMAN

AUGUST 11, 2019 – EAST BROOKFIELD, MA – Six contestants were on hand for this year’s running of the Central Mass Championships. The location was the “Podunk Airfield” in East Brookfield, Massachusetts. The weather was perfect, warm not hot with a gentle breeze.

Round one saw everyone post low scores. In round two Brian Stas, Neil Simpson and Paul Kubek all rebounded posting good wins and were running one, two and three, in that order. In round three Brian posted a two cut win over Paul while Neil got past Bill Bishop with a one cut win leaving Brian with the lead and Neil about 400 points behind in second place. In the final round Chris Sarnowski, after a rough start picked up his second 520 point win in a row this time over Bill. In the semi-final Paul and Cody Bishop flew to a 410 point tie. In the final match Neil and Brian mid-aired early shuffling the field in the process. In the end Brian still had enough for the contest win, Paul moved to second and Neil dropped into a third place tie with Chris. Neil won the tie breaker with Chris owning the third place “gold” in the process. In a day long battle with his dad Cody Bishop had just enough to take home the Sportsman win.

Later, everyone ate, drank and enjoyed each other’s company at the post contest cookout at Neil and Beth’s house (same location as the airfield). The food was prepared and the festivities were hosted by the lovely Beth Brennan. No one went home hungry.
