Central Mass Championships
BRIAN STAS, NEIL SIMPSON & CHRIS SARNOWSKI ARE THE TOP THREE
AUGUST 1, 2021 – EAST BROOKFIELD, MA – Six contestants were on hand for this year’s running of the Central Mass Championships. The location was the “Podunk Airfield” in East Brookfield, Massachusetts. The weather was sunny and warm, but not hot, with temps topping out in the mid seventies. There was little or no breeze all day.
Round one saw Chris Sarnowski post the best score with a 620 point one cut win over Neil Simpson. Cody Bishop was close with a round one win over his dad, Bill. In round two Cody and Chris flew to a low scoring draw while in the same round Neil and Brian Stas flew to a one cut apiece draw and seemed to be moving into contention. At the halfway point Chris had the lead followed by Brian, Cody and Neil. In round three Brian got an airtime win over Chris and Neil got a three cut win over Cody. The final three round four matches would all be important. First Chris and Bill matched up and flew to a one cut apiece draw. Next Brian posted the clubhouse lead with a three cut win over Cody. In the final Neil and Joe Fustolo flew to a one cut apiece draw. When the scores were tabulated Brian was first, Neil second and Chris third.
Later, everyone ate, drank and enjoyed each other’s company at the post contest cookout at Neil and Beth’s house (same location as the airfield). The food was prepared and the festivities were hosted by the lovely Beth Brennan.
