107Th RC Flyers GX Shootout
NEIL SIMPSON, CHRIS SARNOWSKI & BILL BISHOP ARE TOP THREE

JUNE 6, 2021-SAUGUS, MA – The GX Shootout attracted seven pilots for a day of Formula GX action. The weather was sunny and very hot. The temperature by contest end had reached ninety seven degrees. The breeze was light for most of the day and not problematic.

Round one action saw Bill Bishop take the early lead posting the only respectable round one score with an airtime win over Ara Dedekian. Chris Sarnowski and Neil Simpson followed by Brian Stas and Rick Clark all had round one matches ending in mid-airs. In Round two Rick, Brian, Neil and Chris all posted good wins to bounce back and sit atop the leader board separated by only a handful of points. In round three Neil got past Rick with a one cut win when Rick got a slightly sour engine run. In the next match Brian and Chris flew to a one cut apiece draw. Meanwhile Bill, who was flying steady, got an airtime win over Cody. Round four started with Bill getting a one cut win over Ara in an action filled match. In the semi-final Chris got an airtime win over Rick. This left Neil and Brian, who were separated by just over 100 points, to dual it out in the final. It promised to be a battle royal, however, less than a minute in, Brian’s control system started to fail, leaving him with little control and a “sitting duck” for two quick cuts by Neil and then total system failure sending him into the turf. When the cumulative scores were tabulated Neil had the contest win followed by Chris and Bill.

Thank you to the 107th for allowing us to use their control line field.
