2018 Wingbuster GX Shootout

SPORTSMAN TO CODY BISHOP

AUGUST 26, 2018 – HALIFAX, MA – The Wingbuster GX Shootout attracted eight pilots for a day of Formula GX action. The weather was sunny and hot with temperatures topping out in the low to mid eighty degree range. The breeze was light and not a factor.

Round one action saw Joe Fustolo, Neil Simpson and Brian Stasall post 725 point wins to set the initial pace. Joe and Neil hooked up in round two with Neil squeaking past Joe for the win. Meanwhile Brian was flying Chris Sarnowski to a low scoring draw. Round two also saw Ken Hargreaves and Paul Kubek post two cut wins moving into contention in the process. In round tree Neil earned a hard fought one cut win over Ken Hargreaves while Brian, in a equally hard fought match, got past Joe two cuts to one. In the final round Ken and Joe mid-aired while Chris and Cody Bishop were flying to a low scoring draw. All this allowed Paul to jump into contention with a two cut win over Bill Bishop. First place, however, would be decided in the final match between Neil and Brian. It was a battle royal for about two minutes when a line tangle crash took Neil out of contention leaving Brian with both the match and the contest win. Cody and Bill Bishop battled all day long for the sportsman “gold” with Cody edging out his dad by just ten cumulative points.

It was great to have Ken Hargreaves competing for the first time in a long time.and, as always, thank You to the Wingbusters for allowing us to use their fine facility.
