Wingbuster Spring Championships
MATT STAS, NEIL SIMPSON & BRIAN STAS
 ARE TOP THREE

MAY 7, 2017– HALIFAX, MA – The Wingbuster Spring Championships attracted six pilots for a day of Formula GX action. This was opening day for the New England 2017 season. The weather was partly sunny and cool with strong winds.

The combination of winter rust and the wind seemed to take its’ toll on everyone except Matt Stas. In round one Matt got a cut early in a match with Joe Fustolo and went on to victory when Joe had a bladder failure. Meanwhile, also in round one, Neil Simpson and Brian Stas mid-aired, as did Chris Sarnowski and Paul Kubek. In round two Matt stayed hot earning a two cuts to one win over Neil in a match that was well flown and action filled. In the next match Brian and Chris mid-aired. This pushed both pilots off the pace while Joe was moving up with two cut win over Paul. In round three Matt earned a one cut win over Paul while Neil accomplished the same score in a match with Joe. Brian and Chris were re-matched in round three and flew to a low scoring draw. When round four started Matt had clinched first and Neil had clinched second. Only the third spot on the trophy stand was yet to be determined. Brian used a two cut to one round four win over Neil to take third place.

Thank You to the Wingbusters for allowing us to use their fine facility.
